Context:

Within this project, we had to create a research reflection on the topics we discussed in a series of classes covering big data law.

As an artist, I chose to focus on the Instagram algorithm and how it was chipping away at artists' creativity. 

​

I looked at:

• Shadow banning and freedom of expression

• Disabling features like “recent hashtags” during times of crisis and what that means for artists 

• The push to video 

• Instagram is an app for entertainment now instead of an app for artists

• Sharing personal information/stories increases engagement and how that relates to privacy
